Each client brings on a new adventure as I help them find something that meets their unique needs and makes them feel at home. It is my honor to be able to share some of those stories with you!
Today I get the privilege of sharing Danielle and Alexxis’s story. They are the most thoughtful, kind-hearted people you’ll meet. And I know this because I’ve had the opportunity to work with them to purchase and sell a few homes now.
In this particular instance, they reached out for help to sell their small, 2-bedroom bungalow in downtown Colorado Springs because they found out some great news… they were going to be adopting their second child, a little boy… the biological brother of their little girl. They needed more space… and fast! So we listed their first home… the adorable, updated charming home filled with joy and memories as first time homeowners and we went in search for something closer to family and able to accommodate their growing family. They wanted a big yard for their kids to play in that would allow for a family dog. They wanted something bright and open with room to expand. And they weren’t deterred by a project or two… in fact, they are handy and creative and embrace the opportunity to make their house their own.
The Bartons
We are definitely not your average family. We have had quite the story getting to be the family we are today. We are a two mommy household with three beautiful adopted children ages 3 and under - Oaklee (3), Lincoln (2) and Margot (6 months.) All of our children were very much a surprise and things have changed a lot for our family over the last three years. Needless to say we are very busy, all of the time. I (Danielle) own my own business and have a passion for giving back to my community. My stunning wife, Alexxis, works for The Better Business Bureau. It's always a balance between work and home life. We love to be active and, as a Colorado Springs native, are always outdoors exploring a new adventure. In between diapers and sippy cups, we try to stay connected with our family and friends and the people who make our lives feel complete. We are really quite boring, but it works for us!
The Wish List
Our biggest need was space and so it became the big ticket on the wish list! We wanted something we could grow into with our tiny kids and big dogs.
Saying Yes
The house we found had so much potential and my wife simply fell in love with it! The yard space is amazing, we loved that it had a basement, and it was only a few blocks away from my mom (which is the best thing ever!)
Favorite Space
Our favorite space is probably the living room. We recently finished redecorating it and love the way it turned out. We also have this huge picture window that looks out to the trail across the street. It is the main space for the family. We spend a lot of time together playing games, doing family movie nights, living room camp outs and parties here. It's the heart of our home.
Favorite Project
It has to be the custom built in wall to wall bookshelf. My father-in-law and brother-in-law came to town just to build it for us. It was an entire family project and a beautiful piece that has so much meaning to us.
Future Plans
I need a bigger kitchen so we are thinking of adding a glassed in sun room that can double as a dining space off the kitchen to help fix that!
FAMILY & PETS
This is everything! We have both kids and dogs and they were huge inflencers in our home buying journey! Our dogs are obviously in heaven with our huge backyard and our children… while they may not get it now… have a home. We are adopting from the foster care system and when we first brought our daughter home we were living in a tiny little bungalow. Six months later we found out the same birth parents were pregnant again. Overnight our little house did not work for us anymore and I was on the phone with Jessica the same day we received the news. Years later, the same birth parents would bless us with another baby and, now more than ever, we are so grateful that our children have a happy and safe home where they each have their own space. They will only know this home and that is something that will forever change their lives for the better!
FAVORITE PART
When they accepted the offer! Also just getting to go through the houses with Jessica - she is so great at helping you envision yourself in the space.
WORKING WITH JESSICA
There really are not words for how wonderful Jessica is to work with. She is the most invested and caring real estate agent I know. She works her butt off for you. She would show us 75 houses if that is what it took to find the right one. She communicated so well every step of the way. She is honest, knowledgeable, responsive, optimistic, loyal and genuine. It was honestly the best experience I could ever imagine having. What's more is, she never stops caring. She checks on you, keeps finding adorable and thoughtful ways to show her appreciation even now, two years after we closed. We are lucky to have met her, worked with her and to have experienced this process with her.
Clean Break Cleaning Company
And because I love showing off my clients, I have to tell you that Danielle is the owner of Clean Break Cleaning Company ! Learn more online at www.cleanbreakcos.com, on Instagram @cleanbreakcos, or send them an email at info@cleanbreakcos.com!
Alexxis is the Quality Assurance Coordinator at the Better Business Bureau in Colorado Springs. You will frequently hear her on guest radio appearances as she speaks on behalf of the BBB.
This home choice turned out to be a perfect fit for them… right down the street from Danielle’s mom, a large unfinished basement area, and we closed just in time for them to welcome little Lincoln to the family. They moved in, customized their home and started to get life back on a normal track when they were called about accepting baby Margot as well. The space and proximity to a supportive family made the choice of keeping all three biological siblings who needed a loving home a no-brainer.
They inspire me daily with their selfless choices and positive, problem-solving attitudes. They are a great example of what it means to love and serve well, to work hard, and to find the joy in life. Thank you, Danielle and Alexxis, for allowing me to help you find your house to call home.
