Homeowner Spotlight: Elizabeth Sottile

HOMEOWNER SPOTLIGHT #7.png

Summer is well under way here in Colorado! Fortunately the rain has been consistent enough to keep everything green and lush even amidst these unusually warm days! More houses are also popping up on the market which means I get to help more clients find their dream home - something I will never get tired of!

Today we have a new Homeowner to Spotlight and I cannot wait for you to learn more about Elizabeth Sottile and her beautiful home! Elizabeth is one of the warm, welcoming people that you instantly feel connected to the moment you meet her. She is intelligent, kind, patient and thoughtful… the kind of gal you want in your corner. And it was such a joy to help her find this little west-side gem to call her home.

Elizabeth Sottile

I was born and raised in Connecticut and moved to Colorado in 2014 after graduating college in Massachusetts. I moved here because I love being outside and it was a huge change from the East Coast (but I still miss the water!) I work within the Olympic Movement with USA Karate so I have excitement year round working with our Governing Body and our Athletes. I get to travel the world with them to watch them compete and I will be in Tokyo at the Olympics this summer to support and cheer them on!

When I bought my house, I knew I wanted to get a dog, but my travel schedule wasn't allowing it. With COVID hitting and sporting events getting cancelled/postponed for over a year and a half, I was able to get the sweetest puppy name Sadie who is now my sidekick! She loves the open layout of the house because she can sit at the top of the stairs and look out the window at the neighbors, and look down at us on the first floor all at the same time! She loves walks around the neighborhood and carrying her ball up the street to throw it around at the park!

My favorite things about the Mountain Shadows neighborhood are the views of the Mountain and Ute Valley Park. It has been so exciting owning my own home, renovating it to my liking and opening my doors to friends and family as a place everyone is always welcome!

THE WISHLIST

The main thing on my wishlist that I was looking for was an open floor plan! I wanted the kitchen and living room to open up into each other and a back yard so I could have space to sit outside. I also was looking for a basement with a bedroom and full bath to be able to rent out or host company in their own private space.

Saying Yes

I just had a feeling when we walked into this house! I loved the open floor plan, I loved the basement design for company and I loved the location for a long term home.

Favorite Space

The kitchen! My friends and I completely renovated it so its extra special that when friends come over, they have a certain piece of the space that they helped create. It took longer than I hoped, but it was worth it in the end when friends came over in the evening to use their talents to help make the kitchen I imagined. It is now the focus of the house and one of the first things guests notice. We spend days working at the island and evenings sitting around it while someone cooks. It is definitely where I spend the most amount of time when I am at home.

Favorite Project

The kitchen! It is completely different than when I moved in. The cabinets got painted, new counter tops, outlets, backsplash and more! It's a great space to be in. I also painted every room in the house, which gave the home a brand new look. Other than that, I have rearranged the house 4 times already and its almost how I want it!

Future Plans

Well, I'm STILL renovating. I am currently replacing the balusters and moving onto the lighting in the kitchen. Eventually, the backyard is getting a facelift!

Family & Pets

I got a new puppy while living here, and she is loving the backyard, and how she can run all over the house and spy on all the neighbors and us from the upstairs balcony!

Favorite Part

My favorite part about buying a house was Jessica walking me through it! I honestly was scared of commitment and getting into something I wouldn't be able to handle later and she made the whole process so comfortable and easy for me.

Working with Jessica

Jessica made homebuying so comfortable and fun. I always felt like I was wasting her time when we got to a house and I didn't like it, but she always would talk me through what it was missing, which made narrowing down the available houses more effective. Once I knew I wanted to put in an offer, she assured me that she would work quickly and she walked me through all of the paperwork included in the offer and won the house! She also is so genuine in her excitement for you and it always feels great to know that in a stressful and scary experience, you really did have someone on your team excited to get you into the house you want.

I am so grateful I was hooked up with Jessica. I had all the doubts in the world on owning a house as a single female, and 50 days after I first met with Jessica in a coffee shop to start the process, I closed on my first home!

Watching Elizabeth make this home her own has been such a treat! Her warmth is radiated in the colors and materials she’s chosen in her new kitchen. And she’s welcomed in critters and people with open arms in this charming abode.

Thank you, Elizabeth! It was such an absolute pleasure to be your agent and help you find your oasis in this competitive and ever-changing market.
